Start with the task you want to do
Write down your three most important tasks before comparing products: taking short point-of-view videos, listening to calls, asking questions or reading a display. Ask the seller to demonstrate those exact tasks on the model you will receive. Do not assume that every product called AI smart glasses includes a screen or supports the same assistant features.
For a creator, the useful demonstration is a recorded clip transferred to a phone. For a commuter, try a short call in background noise. For someone seeking translation, test the specific language pair and a realistic conversation. A feature name alone does not tell you how well the task works.
Check your phone, account and language together
Ask for the companion app name, supported Android and iOS versions, and whether the app is available for your Indian account. Confirm whether setup, voice assistance and media transfer require a phone, internet access or a subscription. Ask what still works if the connection drops.
Treat voice commands, assistant answers, transcription and translation as separate language features. Request an exact supported-language list for each. If you speak Hindi mixed with English, use that speech pattern in a demonstration instead of relying on a scripted English example.
Try the frame before committing
Check temple pressure, nose fit, slipping and comfort during a longer trial. If you need prescription lenses, get written confirmation of the supported prescription range, lens provider, fitting process and price. Ask whether lens fitting changes electronic warranty coverage and who handles a fitting problem.
For outdoor use, ask about the stated water-resistance rating, operating conditions and care instructions. Request a clear explanation of whether sweat or rain damage is covered. Avoid treating a vague claim such as outdoor-ready as a substitute for documented limits.
Calculate the full ownership cost
Use this checklist for your quote: frame price + prescription lenses + required accessories + delivery + applicable charges + paid app or AI subscriptions. Separate one-time costs from recurring costs. Request a dated quote and clarify what the price includes before paying.
Compare battery claims using the same task: continuous calls, video capture and occasional assistant use are different scenarios. Ask about charging time, included charger or case, replacement accessories and battery service. A lower purchase price may be less useful if essential functions need an additional paid plan.
Check privacy controls in the demonstration
Ask the seller to show how recording starts and stops, how bystanders can see capture status, and how to mute the microphone. Find out where recordings and assistant requests are processed, how to delete stored content, and what happens to account data when you stop using the product.
Before recording, ask the people involved and follow the location’s rules. Plan for places where cameras or connected devices are not appropriate. Look for controls you can understand and operate easily while wearing the frame.
Get Indian support terms in writing
Before ordering, confirm the seller’s identity, invoice details, warranty provider in India, support contact and service process. Ask who pays shipping for a fault, what the inspection process is, and which exclusions apply to lenses, hinges, batteries and accidental damage.
For an imported model, ask whether the manufacturer will support that exact unit in India. Request the return window and conditions, replacement process and software-support policy. Keep the product listing, invoice and written promises together so that support can identify what was sold.
